Decrease In Illegal Immigration

News that has recently caused a stir in Los Angeles, California, is that of a report released on October 2nd, 2008, which revealed the astonishing statistic that the number of legal immigrants for work has well crossed over the number of illegal immigrants for work in the U.S. This has happened for the first time in ten years.

The report was released by Pew Hispanic Center. It revealed that unauthorized immigrants residing in the United States. were 12.4 million in March, 2007, where as, in March, 2008, it decreased to roughly about 11.9 million. From the year 2000 to 2004, the decrease in illegal immigration was 800,000 each year and from the year 2005 to 2008, the decrease in illegal immigration was about 500,000 each year. Legal immigrants that entered the United States in 2007 were about 650,000.

A well known immigration attorney, Darren Silver, the chief attorney of Darren Silver & Associates, provided detailed insider information on this slow down of illegal immigrant population to the U.S. According to him, the increase in legal immigration is due to the housing and mortgage crisis in the United States. Due to the crisis, there is more construction and housing related work available, that are attracting the immigrants. This may sound like good news to many, however, if the long run is considered, the decreased rate of illegal immigration is an indication of a weakening economy, where as, the increase in illegal immigration rate is an indication of a prospering economy. The reason behind this is because, people only illegally migrate to countries that are economically developed; hence, a decrease in the illegal immigration rate is a clear indicator that a country’s economy is going down the drain.

According to Daren Silver, the U.S. government should take an action to bring a drastic change to the immigration scenario. He believes, converting the illegal immigrants, who are already within the country, into legal residents, would benefit the economy. By doing so, the immigrants will be able to work and support themselves, and, at the same time, they would be able to pay tax and support the country’s economy. They would also be able to purchase fixed assets and invest their money, something that they are not allowed to do, at present. Such a change is likely to give the U.S. economy, the much needed boost.

Daren Silver, the immigration lawyer, has his own website and can be contacted directly online. He, previously, was an Immigration Department Adjudications officer in Los Angeles, California, for which he is still very well known in the city. He has been the chief attorney of Daren Silver & Associates since 1999. Today, Darren Silver & Associates in one of the most renowned Immigration Law Firm in the United States with their concentration on the Business and Employment Immigration Law.
