Luscious Linking Strategies

By: Carol Claassen

LINKING = PUBLICITY: You want publicity! You want to be seen and found and discovered! You can help yourself tremendously by understanding the importance of tags and social linking.

Social marketing is actually comprised of two strategies – Social
Networking and Social Linking

You are building links leading to your online business – placed nearly everywhere your intended audience is on the Web.

This process enables you to create natural, permanent, and very
targeted traffic sources – bringing you more of the visitors who are
most likely to become your customers.

For your linking activities, you'll be using social bookmarking sites,
social news sites, social content sites, etc. and you’ll be adding Tags.

Tags are like keywords or labels that should titilate your reader. You add tags to a photo, video, book, article, blog with phrases and words that link your post and help you connect with others who are interested in the same thing. They need to arouse and intrique and grab your reader.

Your tags should be relevant to what you are posting. When you post a video on YouTube, for example, you will be putting your tags in… words that are relevant to your video. You want to make sure people see your work.

if you pay attention to what the people are saying and talking about in your niche, you get that “aha” moment when you realize they are giving you the answers! This is how you will create a successful business in your niche. What people are talking about, what are they asking for…?

Big companies spend a lot of money on market research to learn what
their customers want – but when you socialize with your niche
audience, you get to find out for free!

It's human nature to prefer to do business with people we like and
trust. Relationship marketing has always been – and will always be – the most effective way of selling anything and building any business.
All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.
Winston Churchill

And social marketing is basically relationship marketing online. It's
simply an effective, efficient way to connect directly with the people
who are the most likely to be interested in what you have to offer.

If you are new to this, google some keywords and keyword phrases and see what comes up.

Useful tip: www.inventory.overture.com is a free keyword selector tool. You enter your term related to your site, and it will show related searches that include your term.

Can you DIGG it? One of the best things you can to start your blog is to join Digg. (I will be suggesting others here as well) . People enjoy sharing on this site and it’s growing like crazy. You can be yourself and check out what others are doing and start sending messages and sharing about what you like. Use it like you would your friends who discover a great new accessory store and they call you about this “outrageous” purse they found… And you want to hear all about it… Tell me More, you say. That’s what you want to do here on Digg and the others too.

Be passionate, be honest and open and provide valuable information that others might like to look at… Start dialoguing with these people and you’ll soon be building a nice little list of interested prospects and new friends.

www.Digg.com Was started by Kevin Rose and Jay Adelson only a couple of years ago. These two bright guys have become leading news sources online. Everyday people submit stories to Digg they are interested in. they are voted up or down by the community. If it’s popular, it can drive large numbers of traffic to your site. Go to the site and spend some time there and see what people are up to. I think you’ll see the benefits of joining this immediately. Check out the articles that have the most Diggs. Get acclimated to Digg before you join.

www.StumbleUpon.com - This one is great. It gets tons of long-term traffic. You will get a two minute page time here as opposed to a quick page time on Digg. This is an excellent resource for everyone. You go and tell what your interests are and it wil bring up websites relevant to that topic. You keep “stumbling” upon these… so you can Digg something, then Stumble Upon it and then put it on Facebook, see? How fun is this?

www.DocStoc.com - You can go here and create your profile and include your photo and blog.. When people go there and do a search for a self-help topic, your article will show up in google because of their page rank…. For keywords tha might be hard for you to rank very well for, Docstock is fabulous. Upload your press release or even a chapter of your book and you can get ranked I the top page of Google – not something that’s easy for a new blog. You can even store your document there for free and mark it private, so it’s only available with your link that you send out. If it’s something you only want a certain list to share. You can download it for free and Docstoc handle’s all the bandwidth.

www.LinkedIn.com - For business professionals. Create your profile and start sharing and searching for people you know.
